YOOHOO!!! So the time has finally come to reveal the grand finale of our kitchen remodel. It's been a huge work in progress for the last month or so, and Daniel and I are more than thrilled to finally have a home to settle into for years and years to come! We still have a few final things left to do (ie: repaint all of our walls, hang our new chandelier, etc, etc), but otherwise, our house is nearly there! Up to date, thus far, we've:
-busted a wall open
-demolished the whole previous kitchen and remodeled
-shifted the oven and fridge and rerouted all the plumbing/electrical
-moved and installed all new recessed can lighting
-ripped up all the gross carpet and baseboards---replaced with porcelain tile that resembles hardwood, and new 4" baseboard
As you all recall, here were the before photos of our oak-y outdated home before the remodel:
Hey fan! The 80's called and want you back! |
The waste of space dead wall. |
The corner that Daniel felt 'closed in' our kitchen. This is what started the whole idea for a remodel and having a great room feel to our whole bottom floor. |
Old fridge and hardwood floors |
The window that would've cost $2000 to replace!!! |
Old sink with no room for the hand soap dispenser. (One of the most annoying features of the old sink!) Oh--and not to mention that ugly, square tile. Good riddance! |
Old 'coffee station' area |
and we all remember----the old wall that blocked off our living spaces entirely:
And without further ado, our new kitchen and floors!
Oh hey open space, heyyyyyyy. |
so. in. love.
New coffee corner with our grind and brew and Nespresso machine! |
Amazing new farm sink with plenty of room for anything I want on top! (Oh, and notice the new window? $1900 cheaper than replacing the small bay window.) Also---our subway tile backsplash! |
I'm obsessed with our new mirrored oven. |
New dishwasher camouflaged with a matching cabinet door. One less thing to have to clean with stainless steel cleaner? SCORE. |
An up close of the 'veins' in the countertops. |
Plates n' things. |
The new 'hardwood' (porcelain tile) floors |
The floors look so real, I can't stand it. Love it. |
So, that's that, friends. A month later, and day to day compounded stress, we finally have our dream kitchen! We still have to fix all the walls, but we can finally enjoy our home again.
Have a great weekend folks!

I love the simplicity of your new kitchen. It's just black and white. The contrast between the two colors makes each object stand out, and the fact that there are only two colors makes it more harmonious. Good job!

Your kitchen looks superb! I like how there are a lot of windows to let the natural light in, so you don’t have to turn on the lights every time you go into the room. And it’ll certainly save you on utilities in the future. Thanks for sharing!
